First two Dutch Knights of ‘Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino’



A very special ceremony was recently held at the Spanish ambassador in the Netherlands’ residence at which two local professionals were recognized with diplomas and awards at the first edition of Spanish Wine’s Gran Orden de Caballeros event.
The diplomas recognize professionals who have exhibited a true commitment to promoting Spanish wines in their home countries. The honourees on this occasion were Hubrecht Duijker, well-known wine journalist and writer, and Adrián Zarzo Habraken, famous chef and sommelier, owner of Michelin-star restaurant ZARZO in Eindhoven.

Kruidvat pop-up store in Spain




Dutch drugstore chain Kruidvat will open a pop-up store in Palamós this summer. The drugstore will set up in august in the popular tourist destination for a couple of weeks, according to a spokesperson. Kruidvat currently has 4 shops in France and it stated two years ago that Spain is an interesting market, although it stresses that for now the Palamós pop-up store is just one pop-up store.

Amsterdam selects CAF for new metro order



GVB – the public transport company in Amsterdam –has selected CAF as preferred supplier of its new generation of metros, the future M7 series. The order comprises of thirty 60-meter sets, with an option for thirty more.
The new trains are needed to cope with the fast-growing ridership numbers, and to replace the older S2 and S3/M4 types on the ring and the ‘east’ line. The first units should enter service during the summer of 2021.
It is not the first time that CAF delivers metros to Amsterdam. The S3/M4 rolling stock also came from CAF production lines.

Spanish exports up 4,4%



Spain’s exports grew by 4.4% in the period of January-February 2018 compared to the same period of 2017 to 45,419.2 million euros, and imports increased by 4.6% year-on-year to 51,521.9 million euros.
Spain’s main exporting sectors were capital goods (representing 18.7% of total exports, rising by 4.9% year-on-year), vehicles (16.7% of total, falling by 0.9%), food, beverages and tobacco (16.7% of total, diminishing by 1.1%) and chemical products (14.4% of total, growing by 4.2%). The largest shares by sector of Spain’s imports were those of capital goods (representing 19.7% of total and expanding by 0.5% year-on-year), chemical products (15.9% of total imports, surging by 14.8%), energy (14.9% of total imports, increasing by 1.2%) and vehicles (13.3% of total imports, advancing by 4.8%).

Spanish wine exports soar in 2017



Spanish wine exports rose by nearly 8.9% in 2017, reaching sales of over three billion euros. Sales particularly grew in China, Canada, Lithuania and Italy. Spain exported a total of 22.8 million hectoliters of wine last year, or the equivalent of 253 million cases. Cava (representing 81% of all Spanish sparkling wine exports) grew its international sales by some 88 million euros in 2017, reaching total sales of 1.7 billion euros.
